Avian Influenza Control and

Human Pandemic Preparedness and Response (AIHP) Project

The Republic of Moldova has received a financing from the InternationalDevelopment Association (IDA) in the amount of US$ 8,000,000 equivalent toward the cost of the AIHP project, and it intends to apply the proceeds of this credit to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project.

The Project is a part of the World Bank's Global Program for Avian Influenza Control and Human Pandemic Preparedness and Response. The overall objectiveof the Project is to minimize the threat posed to humans by HPAI.  To achieve this, the Projectwill support surveillance for outbreaks of such diseases, preparationfor outbreaks, and control of outbreaks among humans and animals.  The project has three main components: Animal Health,. Human Health and Public Information and Awareness.

Procurement of contracts financed by the credit/grant will be conducted through the procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, May 2004 and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, May 2004.

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank's international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for large-value consultants' contracts will be announced, as they become available, in Development Business and in local newspapers.
