Subject: PTRRF - Procurement and Installation of Equipments (IFB No: 014/070379-MAL)

1. The Government of the Republic of Maldives has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Post Tsunami Recovery and Reconstruction Project (PTRRP), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the Contract(s) for Procurement and Installation of Equipments in Lot 01, 02, 03, 04 and Lot 05. IFB No. 014/070379-MA.
2. The Ministry of Finance and Treasury, on behalf of Ministry of Education (the Employer), invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the Procurement and Installation of Equipment in the following five bid lots. Bidders may bid for one or more lots.
Lot 01: Office Equipment: photocopiers; digital printing systems; collators
Lot 02: Multimedia Equipment: projectors; TVs; DVD players; language labs
Lot 03: Sound & Light Equipment: sound systems; sighting systems
Lot 04: Gym Equipment: Crosstrainers; exercise bike; treadmills; weight benches
Lot 05: Home Appliances: gas cookers; washing machines; refrigerators

3. Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and are open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.
4. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on submission of a written application, from Tender Evaluation Section of Ministry of Finance and Treasury, from 6th July 2008 to 15th August 2008 between 0830hrs to 1400hrs on all working days, upon payment of a non refundable fee of US$ 200.00 (Two Hundred Only) (which will include the cost of courier mailing). Bidders wishing to collect the documents in person shall be required to pay Mrf 2,313.00 or US$ 180.00. Additional set of documents may be purchased, each at the same price. The method of payment will be “crossed cheque” or wire transfer”. The Bidding Documents will be sent by courier mailing and electronic mailing.

6. All bids must be accompanied by a “Bid Security” of not less than stated here under or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency which is valid 28 days beyond the validity of the Bid.

Lot 02: Multimedia Equipment: USD 1,500.00
Lot 03: Sound & Light Equipment: USD 1,500.00
Lot 04: Gym Equipment: USD 400.00
Lot 05: Home Appliances: USD 1,700.00
7. A pre-bid meeting will be held on 20th July 2008 at 1300hrs Maldivian time at the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.
8. Bids shall be valid for a period of 90 days from the date of bid opening and shall be delivered to the Ministry of Finance and Treasury at the address specified above in Clause 5 of this Invitation for Bids, on or before 1100 hrs Maldivian time on 16th August 2008, at which time they will be opened in the presence of the Bidders who wish to attend. Electronics bidding will not be permitted and late bids will be rejected
